When should we visit Disneyland in 2027?

Here is your first look at what to expect throughout the year, including weather, crowds and Disneyland’s most popular seasonal events. Read my honest take on the best time to visit at the end.

Please remember that most 2027 event dates have not been announced yet. The information below is based on Disneyland’s typical calendar and is meant to help you narrow down your travel window. I’ll share confirmed dates as Disney releases them.

JANUARY AND FEBRUARY

Weather: Mild days and cool mornings and evenings, with average highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Rain is possible, so bring layers and a light rain jacket.

Crowds: New Year’s week and holiday weekends can be busy. Many regular weekdays are more manageable, although attraction refurbishments are more common during this season.

Likely events: Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure and possibly separately ticketed Disneyland After Dark events.

Best for: Families who prefer cooler weather and have some flexibility with their dates.

MARCH AND APRIL

Weather: Comfortable spring weather, generally reaching the upper 60s and 70s during the day. Cool evenings and occasional rain are still possible.

Crowds: Spring break crowds vary by week because school districts take breaks at different times. Late March and early to mid April are peak. Easter week is typically especially popular.

Likely events: The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, Disneyland After Dark events and seasonal Easter activities.

Best for: Food lovers, pleasant weather and families whose spring break dates are fixed.

MAY AND JUNE

Weather: Mild to warm afternoons, with highs generally in the 70s and low 80s. “May Gray” and “June Gloom” can mean cloudy mornings that become sunnier later in the day.

Crowds: Weekdays may be easier earlier in May. Crowds usually increase around Memorial Day and as schools begin summer break.

Likely events: Grad Nite celebrations may take place on select dates at Disney California Adventure. These can affect evening crowds and park hours.

Best for: Families looking for the best weather before the hottest part of summer.

JULY AND AUGUST

Weather: Hot, sunny and dry. Afternoon temperatures commonly reach the 80s and can climb into the 90s during a heat wave.

Crowds: Summer remains consistent, but not as popular as Spring Break and popular holidays. Crowd patterns can shift depending on ticket promotions and Magic Key blockout dates.

Likely events: Summer entertainment, nighttime spectaculars and the beginning of Halloween Time toward the end of August.

Best for: Families who need to travel during summer vacation and want longer park hours.

SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER

Weather: September can still be very hot. October normally begins to cool later in the month, but warm afternoons are still abundant.

Crowds: Weekdays can feel different from busy weekends, but Halloween has become one of Disneyland’s most popular seasons.

Likely events: Halloween Time and Oogie Boogie Bash on select nights. The Bash requires a separate ticket and typically causes Disney California Adventure to close early to regular guests.

Best for: Halloween fans and families willing to plan carefully around party nights.

NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER

Weather: Comfortable afternoons and chilly evenings, with average highs ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s. Rain becomes more likely later in the year.

Crowds: Early November and portions of early December may be more manageable. Thanksgiving week, Christmas week and New Year’s Eve are among the most popular times of the year.

Likely events: Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, seasonal food, festive entertainment and beautifully decorated parks.

Best for: Families who love the holiday atmosphere and understand that the most festive dates can also be the busiest. So, What Is My Favorite Time to Visit?

As someone who has visited Disneyland during every season, my favorite time to go is early June. The weather is usually great, crowds can be manageable and any after-hours events are relatively easy to plan around. That said, I also love visiting during the holidays. MY HONEST OPINION ABOUT DISNEYLAND CROWDS

I don’t choose our Disneyland dates by chasing a supposedly “crowd-free” week because Disneyland will always have people.

There are certainly busier and quieter times, but no crowd calendar can guarantee what a particular day will feel like. Promotions, weather, attraction closures, local school schedules and special events can all change attendance patterns. Instead, I focus on choosing dates that work for my family and making a plan for the conditions we are likely to encounter.

If crowds are expected, we purchase Lightning Lane access, arrive with a smart park plan and prioritize the attractions that matter most.

If the weather may be hot, we choose a hotel close enough for an easy midday break, preferably one with a great pool.

If a special event could close one park early, we consider Park Hopper tickets or plan a longer vacation with rest days built in.

And if you have children in school, or you are a teacher like me, you may not have the luxury of choosing the “perfect” week.

My advice is simple: Go when you can.
